Free therapy for college students in Santa Clarita: how it actually works
If you're in college, you've probably heard "just go to your campus counseling center." Those centers do good work, but they can be hard to fit around classes, a job, and a real schedule. A lot of students end up putting it off, and then things pile up.
Here's what many students don't know. Through the California Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, called CYBHI, students 25 and under who are enrolled in a California college may qualify for therapy at no cost to them. No copays. No out-of-pocket expenses. The initiative exists to make it easier for young people to get care, and we're one of only three standalone practices in California in the partnership.
So what does that actually look like? You don't need a parent to sign you up. You can see a therapist in person at our Newhall office or by video. We offer flexible daytime appointments, which matters when your evenings are full. We work with students from College of the Canyons, CalArts, and The Master's University.
This is a separate option from your campus counseling center. Some students use us instead. Some use us because the timing works better for them. Either way, the choice is yours.
Getting started is simple. Text us at 661-383-2252 and we'll check whether you qualify. You may be asked for your insurance information to register you for the program, but you won't get a bill. Then you can read our therapists' bios, watch their short videos, and pick someone who feels like a good fit. If you're not sure yet, ask for our free 15 minute consultation first.
Your therapy is yours. We meet every person with warmth and zero judgment, and we're honest with you about how everything works. That's what we mean when we say we want getting help to be simple, personal, and within reach.
If you ever feel unsafe or in crisis, call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.
