Get to Know Me
Rocio Jacobo, AMFT (She/Her) Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#165198)
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions, so I want to make our first steps together as clear and comfortable as possible. You can share what has been going on, and we will talk about what you want to get out of our time together. There is no pressure, and we will move at whatever pace feels right to you. Whether you want to talk through a recent stressful event, practice new coping tools, explore art activities, or process big feelings, I will adapt to your needs.
I have experience working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds in homes, schools, and community centers. My background includes working directly with individuals facing severe behavioral challenges, where I provided strong emotional support, set healthy limits, and helped clients use practical coping skills during tough moments. In my practice, I combine this hands-on experience with specialized training in Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), Suicide Prevention, and QPR crisis response. I also use proven methods like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), DIR/Floortime, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Because I am passionate about the healing power of art, I love using creative art activities to help clients express their feelings when words are too hard to find.
My main goal is to bring back hope, build up your strengths, and give you real-world tools to handle life's ups and downs. I place a high value on cultural sensitivity and deeply respect the unique background, traditions, and values of every person I work with.
I welcome individuals and families from all walks of life, and I can provide intermediate support in both Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL). Whether you want to talk through a recent stressful event, practice new coping tools, explore art activities, or just process big feelings, I will adapt to your needs. Please reach out today to schedule a time to talk. Let’s work together to build a happier, healthier future.
'Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.' — Fred Rogers
